Creating Comic Books series with humorous content carrying different educative message in helping Tanzanian CHILDREN to gain the spirit of reading and reducing the number of children who can't read and write as now that is a major challenge in our education sector.
As nowadays it is normal to find a standard 7 pupil who does not know how to read and write properly. (quoted from HakiElimu, 2007 and Uwezo 2010).Many children lack the motivation to read on their own which diminishes their moral to learn how to read and write.
Also It should be noted that the 2012 Annual Uwezo Assessment report revealed that only 3 children out of 10 in Standard Three can read a Standard Two level Kiswhaili story; while only 1 child out of 10 in Standard Three can read a Standard Two level English story.With such a challenge facing our children and the future Tanzanian leaders there is a great need to come up with alternative ways to motivate the reading spirit among our children from their early age.
The solution is to create a comicbook that would be educative, easy to read, and fun to keep, with different social issues for children and the whole society based.
